Some parts really dragged, some were hilarious, mostly a joy to read towards the end but I was seriously tempted to drop it for better books during the first half. Idk I feel this book could be 300 pages long rather than 400.

Some themes they touched were rather well made – I'm not saying extremely well:
- how much luck determines us as a person and how self-made a person could claim to be
- self-fulfilng prophecies about ourselves – how Olive framed herself as unlucky and therefore had to play it safe, and how she framed Ethan's character too
- the importance of trust and what being betrayed by someone you love can do to you
- some good highlights on the capability of growth, anxiety, and how you deserve better than douchebags for your romantic partner. Olive's actions towards the end were very validating for women, which probably explains how popular this book was on TikTok.
- Hawaii, because everyone loves Hawaii.

The last 20% of the book pissed me off. The male MC is an idiot (supportive of lying and cheating and victim blaming) and them staying together is mind boggling. It was like reading a horror novel by the end.

Horrible, had to DNF. But I suffered through almost 6 chapters of this before being done so it counts. Lost me in 3 places: 1) trying to convince me that Ami is just so good at coupons that her wedding was free minus maybe 1K out of pocket. Who believes this?! 2) Ami loves her twin sister Olive so much, but was totally fine with her being uncomfortable and hideous for this already terrible wedding?! LIME GREEN BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE FREE?!?! BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES FROM A RAFFLE?!? 3) So tired of the “I would die for my sister who would trade me in for a piece of air” trope - y’all gotta stand up

I think I continued reading out of spite. I wanted a light fluffy, beachy summer read… but, this book was just not good. Every plot point feels like something a compulsive liar made up
