A bit of a slow start but becomes more engaging as the story develops. The author captures the feeling of hopelessness amongst the Atlantic City backdrop very well. This is a dark and sad story.

This book felt a bit disjointed at times (though it works in the end). In the beginning it was really hard to get into because of seemingly unconnected characters and switching between first and third point of views.
