Ultimately just not good poetry and basically a regurgitation of Thistle’s memoir

This was a really moving and inspiring collection of stories and poems from Indigenous author, Jesse Thistle. He shares more of his addiction and recovery struggles, life with a disability and the way poetry helped give him a bright spot when he was at his lowest.
I enjoyed most hearing about his life now and his love and devotion for his wife and new baby daughter. An absolute delight to listen on audio read by the author but I also enjoyed the beautifully illustrated hard copy too. Fans will not want to miss out on this special little book!

This is one I will reread again and again. I wanted to read more poetry this year so of course I had to read this. Jesse’s words are beautiful and powerful. Found the poems relatable and I’ve never been homeless or incarcerated or in rehab. Loved the evolution of the poems, the themes if you will on the journey. The Bison
