Two women whose lives are not exactly what they hoped for get together for a birthday celebration that turns both exciting and horrific. A quick reading tale of vampires and female empowerment with some gruesome moments and strong characters. Fun.

Overall, all this wasn’t for me. The first 70% was a mix of standard vampire tropes, friendship and romance tropes. I almost quit when the Sloan said that deep down, she enjoyed being a victim. Excuse me?! I can swallow this being in a novel if the character actually seemed to have this problem, but instead this felt like the author was gaslighting me. (**Deep breath**) Having said all that, I did enjoy the last 30% where it started to break the mold, but I wish the whole book was like this.
