Christmas—the birth of Jesus—isn’t truly the beginning of the story. It’s the middle. Crowder offers the necessary and beautiful backstory to help readers more accurately appreciate—and therefore worship—Jesus.

Stopped reading at page 14. Very good reference book. I was hoping to read a book that invited the Christmas spirit into my heart and home during the month of December. I found this to be more of a historical background of Christmas, Jesus' genealogical history, and nitpicked details of the Christmas story down to its bare bones. I may try to read this, again, in the future, but not as an Advent devotional.
