I have enjoyed every Tijan book I’ve ever come across, and this is no exception.
The only difference honestly is that there are others that I enjoyed more.
A key factor in every Tijan book is all the moving parts, and I find if you look away for even a moment, you’ll miss a detail and things will be fuzzy for awhile.
This is the case here, I felt like I had missed something that was preventing me from seeing the bigger picture.

Brady is loved and adored by most, popular and easygoing. Rayna doesn’t have those same luxuries, and is kept very sheltered by her best friend.

Honestly the translation from friends to more happened like someone flipped a light switch, and it didn’t seem like anyone knew what to do with those feelings or how to process the change.

I did enjoy their characters overall, and I would recommend the read.

This was really good - the pace of the book seemed really slow at first but then really picked up.

Very cute story. Some. Eye roll moments but over all I enjoyed it.

This is such a nice short story, or at least it felt pretty short with me. Such a quick read. Full of mystery and high-school drama. Loved the small town setting as well. The family bonds and the room there was for character development was great. If you want a fast story full of drama and family / small town secrets this is the one you want to read.

I’m so confused right now. I don’t really now how to rate this book.
The story had a lot of ups and downs, but sometimes I felt like I’m constantly getting lost in a maze of details and secrets.
I know that in the end, everything turned out to be better and my questions were answered, but I still have that awkward feeling like I’m lost in a maze.

This was so full of emotions and secrets. It had me captivated from the very beginning.

I know Tijan's style. For the most part I love the OTT angst, drama and family issues that form the backdrop of the classic super hot, everyone wants him bad boy falling for the quiet/nerdy/social outcast or damaged girl. But while all those same ingredients were here, this time they didn't assemble into a cohesive story. Instead they just formed a weird confusing mish-mash of random angsty drama points thrown about that were never explained or resolved and that just did not work for me. I also did not like the dynamic between Brady & Rayna, especially once they progressed their relationship to having sex. It felt icky and unbalanced. Like he had kept her isolated and away from others until he was ready for something serious in the mean time he got to have friends and sex with other girls while Rayna just sat around waiting for him.

Probably only for die-hard Tijan fans. Otherwise skip this one and go to her Fallen Crest series or her more recent and excellent Canary, Anti-stepbrother or RYan's Bed.
