Il miglior libro della serie dedicata a Cormoran Strike finora, e uno dei migliori in assoluto della Rowlings. Oltre 1.100 pagine che scorrono velocemente, ad un ritmo serrato, senza un attimo di noia né di calo di interesse, anzi, ho fatto davvero molta fatica a staccarmene. Una storia intricata, coinvolgente, drammatica e allucinante, resa ancora più agghiacciante dal fatto che situazioni del genere purtroppo sono reali. Nota di colore, finalmente ci siamo liberati della presenza tossica di Charlotte.

Over 1,100 pages that flow quickly, at a fast pace, without a moment of boredom or loss of interest, in fact, I really struggled to put it down. An intricate, engaging, dramatic and hallucinating story, made even more chilling by the fact that situations like this are unfortunately real. Color note, we finally got rid of Charlotte's toxic presence.

I friggin love this series. The lengths of the books are a bit intimidating, but I love spending time with the characters and following their process as they solve another crime. I wish the eighth book was already out.
The character design for this series is just amazing. Each character is so fleshed out and realistic. You not only know what they look like but their thoughts, plans, insecurities and more. This really adds to the richness of the books. This one in particular is especially deep in plot lines. As in the other novels there is a main case and extra "illustrate the agency is busy" cases. But within the main case are multiple plotlines to follow. Highly recommend.
This was by far the best Strike book yet! I could not put it down! A religious community known as UHC which was the basis of an intense and terrifying cult involved in brainwashing, rape, murder, torture, physical and sexual abuse, and stealing money from millions who believe in their humanitarian causes. Robin going undercover to join the cult… just wow!
Reasons I Recommend:
1) The whole divinity aspect of belief and philosophy and how it centred around martyrs of dead members and idealized suicide was scary and creepy yet believable for people to latch onto
2) Trying to get people out yet those who did escape were too terrified to talk and
3) Finally an end to the drama of Strike’s past and a great promise for the future of this slow burn.
