I wanted to like this one, but the story never gripped me. Most of the story is told in flashback or one character will just explain what happened. It's an interesting story and one that has obviously endured, but I didn't enjoy the writing of this classic.

Me costó terminar el libro, el inicio no terminaba de atraparme y lo sentí muy lento, los últimos capítulos si se pudieron leer más rápido

Poor, poor Erik!

This book was a true horror story. Most books meant to scare can't evoke that in me like movies can, but there were moments in this book where I was chilled by those yellow eyes. Unexpectedly akin to Edgar Allan Poe, an absolute 5/5 classic for me. The narrative voice is superb.
I've never seen the movie or the play, but the plot was always described to me as romantic and the Phantom as a brooding tragic lover. If that's the case, it's a tragedy it would be adapted that way. (Update once I watch the movie)

I was disappointed with this book. After seeing the play, I expected much more from the book. The best book to read if interested in Phantom of the Opera is the one called, Phantom by Susan Kay! I highly recommend it!

No se me hizo el librazo que me habían dicho, pero pues palomero y lleno de drama y amores imposibles. Fantasmas y sustos que tienen al lector queriendo saber más del mundo de la opera de París.
