read The Vegetarian after seeing lots of posts about it. It was an interesting exploration of the ways 'madness' is treated/mistreated and how entrenched the limiting structures of society and its institutions have become. It was challenging to read as two parts of the three were written from the perspective of males, so gross, but as such give a first hand view of subjugation and ways women can be made smaller and lesser. The novel shines a light on some big difficult issues as well as presents perspective as more fragile than our binary teachings often allow.
