"I will never regret him. And me. And when we chose each other."
Xander is the youngest Butcher, the boxing legend of the District. Smart ass and perpetual optimist. I love his personality. Something about him and the way he speaks- I can imagine a boyish grin on his face. I never thought I'd care for the use of 'Woman' as a nickname or term of endearment but somehow, it just works for Xander.
Kaya is going through it when Xander explodes into the picture. Their first interaction on page made me love them both. They have a 'passionately intense/intensely passionate' start followed with a buildup where the connection is easy to see. A lot comes at them in a short span and it's written so sweetly. The "I want to be a rabbit too" gave me major heart eyes and "If you're a bird, I'm a bird" vibes from The Notebook, I loved it.
Having all of the Butcher brothers together, there was a feeling of bittersweet finality that comes with the end of the series. I loved their time together and getting to see small glimpses of Clay and Fawn 🖤. I'll be interested to see what comes next for this author!
*I received and arc in exchange for an honest review

Says it’s fine to read as a stand alone but isn’t given the same exposition a stand alone would have. I’ve no clue of the setting or characters & it’s clear it needs to be read with the others.
Content warnings are literally just from the 27 pages that I read; marked them all as moderate cus they didn’t really have time to develop into major or minor plot points.

In Their Broken Legend, Xander is described as intensely passionate and passionately intense. Those are the words I would use to describe this book - passionate and intense and powerful, emotional, breathtaking, heart wrenching, and beautiful.
Kaya and Xander have an encounter one night at a party and can’t quite get rid of each other. The two are like magnets, drawn to one another, and neither one can stop the pull they feel. They develop real feelings, but not before forces are already set in place that could destroy their lives.
Nicci Harris has created a masterpiece to wrap up her Butcher Boys books. Her characters have depth and strength as well as humor and romance. The relationship between Kaya and Xander is electric. Xander is definitely an alpha protector, but he has no problem showing his vulnerability to Kaya. The world building is excellent, but I feel like the characters are the most important element of this book - especially the bond that the Butcher boys have for one other.
I really can’t say much more than that without spoilers. What I will say is that you can - technically - read this as a standalone, but I cannot stress how amazing this entire series is and how much more you’ll enjoy Their Broken Legend if you read the rest of the series first. Please keep me posted and let me know what you think - I’d love to discuss.

What an emotional journey. Xander and Kaya took my emotions through the wringer. I cried and laughed and cried some more. Their story was beautifully written.
