This is by far my favorite volume, I think it gave us important details and the story line felt different than the others , and I think it's beautiful way of setting for the rest of the manga. And we finally know more about Hanako which is odd because his name is in the title and we know about him so little. I know that is because he is mysterious and to build anticipation.

This was another great volume but not as funny or endearing as the third one. For me there was a bit too much fish emphasis!! (You’ll see what I mean when you read it) which is fine in small doses but a couple of chapters were dedicated to this :/

Elsewhere Hanako-Kun reveals he had a brother…and I know we’ll be seeing lots more from him throughout the series *hides*

And then Mitsuba is introduced! I remember his storyline was much more pronounced in the anime but it almost seems like very few pages are spent on this in the manga :( his story is incredibly sad and kind of depressing :’( perhaps why they didn’t dedicate too much of this volume coveting his story?

My favorite volume so far! This was a very character focused chapter and it was so sweet. Yashiro has grown from being so boy obsessed but she can still continue grow from here. Art composition is getting better with storytelling!

This is some hardcore stabbing in my delicate weak heart. But that’s totally fine; I know worse is yet to come hahahahahahaha *sobbing*

Nene is being followed around my magical fish who can “swim” in anything. They are trying to recruit her to become a princess in the magical fish kingdom. They view her as already belonging to them because she ate a mermaid scale (way back in volume 1). Hanako-kun has been pushing Nene away lately since she’s been asking more questions about his life, so for a split second she considers the offer. But, she finds out she’d be a fish and not a mermaid, so she bolts! Minamoto finds a ghost who is creepily asking people if they remember him, so instead of exorcising him, he tries to help the ghost with his unfinished business. Hanako-Kun’s worst enemy, his brother, continues to mess everything up and set the Mysteries against our trio.

I really enjoyed the emotion in this book because man did that entire end arc destroy me.

Not to mention, HIS BROTHER!? Was not expecting that.
