I read a lot of mystery novels so it's hard for books to genuinely surprise me, but this one did. I liked that the point of view switched between Paul and Amanda. The book was well written and the author did a good job with world building. It was overall a good read.
Graphic: Child death and Violence
Moderate: Mental illness and Animal death

Very intense murder mystery with a dual timeline. Kept me on my toes and constantly trying to string together all the bits and pieces. Ending fell a bit flat for me though. ties up too quickly and conveniently, culminating in a confrontation with a character that seemed to have come out of nowhere
