I love and when I say love love this book . And if you like kdrama or Korean content you will love this book.

This is probably the first time I have liked a male lead as much as I like Jihoon . That man is perfection in its self . If someone took everything I love and put it in a book this book would be it. It's Soo so good . I love the main characters so much . And the side characters too❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Somin is a queen and changwan holds my heart in a plater .I loved the Korean mythology aspect of this book alot too.

Now to the this I didn't like as much idk if it's just me but something that annoys me about Korean tv shows and other media is that
Bad=ugly in them .the villains or antagonists are many times  described as ugly, fat or are gross In general. Wicked fox had it a bit in the beginning but after that it didn't bother me anymore. Also the books slow but I really didn't mind I loved the parts of the book when the relationship between the characters were explored.

<Spoiler>
Also I absolutely hate yena I don't like the shaman and gu myoungs dad too but... I just don't think I'll ever be able to forgive yena for hurting my Jihoon !

The cons are basically that the pacing was weird at times. It felt like it started off fast paced then halted, then sped up again. Also that some of the action was hard to understand because it wasn't written as well as the reat of the book. I felt like the author is best at writing dialogue, emotion and tender moments, but not great with action. Now onto everything I loved:

Going into this expecting a young adult romance with mythical elements was the best way for me, because I ended up surprised and delighted by the nuance and emotional storytelling. This was more than a slow burn romance, this was about identity, legacy, family, parental relationships, friendship and grief. I cried or had to hold back tears more than once because I related to the characters so deeply. I loved the main two characters the most, but everyone felt nuanced and fleshed out.

If you are looking for a heavy plot-focused story, or a very detailed world, this is light on those elements. But it's so deep in character and emotion. Especially if you had a complex relationship with your parents.

The Korean mythology and the sections that were dedicated to talking just about gumiho and various past gumiho, was amazing and felt like natural breaks. Those short tales also helped to explain the extreme suffering aat the hands of humand, and complexity of gumiho's feelings towards them. Which helped to explain certain motherly figures.

All in all. I loved this more than I thought I would and will be getting the second, and last book in this duology.

I had so much fun with this!! I loved the plot and the premise (this is the second book I've read about the fox lore in east Asia)!! I thought the characters were sweet, funny, and wholesome. my biggest issue is something in relation to the
romantic plot, it was insta-love and I hate that so was the reason the book didn't get 5 stars

This is a book I possibly just read at the right time. I wanted something easy, fast paced and holding some mythology retelling and some romance that would bring me back into reading. And this book delivered.

It is a YA mythology based contemporary urban fantasy novel situated in Seoul and I loved to see the city and the mythology revolving around the nine tailed fox coming to life in this story.

I loved the world building, loved the retelling, loved the characters that hold this mixture of light and dark as they do in k-dramas, light hearted and yet touching down on tough subjects.
