I <3 Madison Beer!
Many will scoff at the fact that such a young woman would even be writing a memoir at this point in her life. But Madison has lived a very full life and has a lot to say.
Any pop star memoir is going to be like cat nip to me. But I do think Madison has an especially interesting vantage point on pop stardom. She is not an A-lister, but she is very well known. Her career, at least at the beginning, was based on her proximity to her male peers like Jack & Jack, and, of course Justin Bieber. She was ostensibly a pop star, but not at all in control of her career. And she was known more for beauty and those aforementioned relationships/friendships.
It was also interesting to hear about all the (unwarranted) hate she received. I witnessed it first hand, the woman was truly hated for no valid reason - just the usual offender of misogyny. I think she learned a lot of painful, but valuable lessons being so hated. She clearly has been through a lot of therapy that has given her perspective and wisdom on her situation.
I did also want to mention I was especially moved by her relationship with her brother Ryder. She loves him so much but is clearly has some guilt around how her stardom effected him. I though this was just really raw and honesty of Madison to admit, and her sisterly love just came off the pages in these chapters. She wants to protect him but knows she has (at least indirectly) caused him pain.
Later I listened to a song on her new album dedicated to him called "Ryder" and burst in to tears knowing there history. I do hope they are close. And as an older sibling, I just really connected to Madison on this. I want nothing more than to protect my younger siblings but I know some of my mistakes have caused them pain. Its a hard and complex feeling to recognize within ourselves and is even more challenging to put it into words, especially as beautiful as Madison did here.
Miss Beer has earned a fan for life and I do recommend everyone check out her music because the last two albums have been amazing! Very happy I took the chance on this book and got to know this intelligent, thoughtful woman!

I listened to this book and I loved it! Definitely recommend if you would like to know more about her and the battles she’s fought in her life
First I want to start by saying, there is no rating because I have grown to realize I don’t want to rate memoirs because it’s basically judging peoples stories. Anyways, onto my actual commentary- I was incredibly incredibly shocked. I had no clue Madison dealt with any of this, and the entire story was truly super eye opening. As someone who also deals with being an SA victim, someone on social media, someone with ptsd, someone with SI and SH, and other mental illnesses, this story hit really really close to home in more ways than one. I listened to the audiobook but I think I need a physical copy because I think this is a new comfort book of mine. ❤️❤️
