Well written story about a Latina teenager trying to make sense of her new school that is predominately white students. While there’s always room for more nuances in these stories, her experiences and frustrations as well as those of other students are articulated well with individuality. The main character does find joy in herself and who she is but I wish that was highlighted more. It felt like that sense of self was realized but I wish it would have been explored to add even more depth to her character & her experience. The storyline felt realistic and true to human nature, especially that of teenagers. Her predominately white school isn’t suddenly perfect and racism free at the end. That made the story that much more important and opens up more space for conversations about race, class, diversity, and identity
