I don't know if you are ever truly "finished" reading this book. At one point I had 8 bookmarks marking all of the paths that I still wanted to follow. The gimmick was interesting and amusing, but in practical reading terms it was just hard to deal with. I never knew how much more I had to read...was it 50 pages? More? Less? HOW FAR DONE AM I??? DID I READ THE WHOLE THING OR DID I MISS SOMETHING IN 'MY' LIFE THAT IS IMPORTANT???

Having said that NPH is a delight to read, and I enjoyed every moment of 'my' NPH life.

Sometimes you just need a fun read to wrap up your year and this book was the perfect book to do just that. I grew up with Doogie, have watched every single episode of How I Met Your Mother, and have watched the Tony's just because he was hosting. When I found out he had written an autobiography set in the style of the Choose Your Own Adventure books, I was instantly hooked. I loved those books when I was younger and the format worked for this light, honest, and always entertaining look at some of the highlights of his life. Hey, I even learned a couple of magic tricks along the way.

I enjoyed hearing NPH read but the format didn’t work well for an audiobook in my opinion

Pretty spectacular. Funny and heartfelt.

4 stars

I've always thought Neil Patrick Harris was amazing, and this book proves it. It's full of hilarious, heartbreaking and heartwarming moments that all read authentically. Favorite sections include the birth of his twins, a brief reflection on HIMYM and his sexual evolution.

Of course, the 'Choose-Your-Own-Adventure' format is wildly inventive and works well overall. It even ha those cheesy deaths that you can sometimes end up on. The only downside is that there were some parts of NPH's life that I just couldn't get too. I finished this book by flipping through the pages in order to read the few sections I missed.

Otherwise, an enjoyable read.

I have started and stopped about 4 books recently. They didn't get my attention, I didn't like the subject matter, they were over-rated...something rubbed me the wrong way and I wouldn't pick up the book. I was sad. It's tough not having a book to read.

I don't remember how I ran across the book. I'm going to assume I was browsing library kindle books and it looked curious. Choose Your Own Adventures were a staple for me as a child and I think it was a great start to my imagination. So his play on that??? Count me in.

Of course, it's entertaining. It's brilliant. It's completely worth your time. I do recommend that you book mark the "chapters" that you read, because you will want to go back and read the ones you missed later. I laughed. I laughed some more. I didn't cry, but I did come close to peeing myself from laughter.

NPH's voice comes through loud and clear in this fun autobiography. From his early life, through his Doogie years, to theater. HIMYM, and Dr. Horrible Neil shows how he remained relatively grounded when with his stardom.
Great Read.
