Found it hard to put down so finished quite quick! Not a very likeable lead character but good to see the other side of the cousins' war. Lots of details about the history and once again great to have the feminine side to the story.
I did enjoy this book, but I felt no affinity with the protagonist. You're led to dislike this shadowy figure in the White Queen, and I found I couldn't root for her, making this slightly less engaging than the others in the series.
I loved this, the same story as the White Queen but told from the perspective of Margaret Beaufort-Henry VII's mother. Now going to move onto the Kingmaker's Daughter to finish off 'The Cousin's War' trilogy.
I really enjoyed reading from the perspective of Margaret Beaufort. She is not a character I relate to, but Gregory wrote such an interesting book-it kept me reading!
I felt compelled to finish this. It was dull and repetitive at times which is the way Margaret lived her life. As annoying as it was I couldn’t put it down

Ahh Margaret Beaufort is the definition of self righteousness.
She believes that God has blessed her; with everything that is going on God has selected her to special. I honesty wanted to slap her but at the same time I really liked her. She legit did not care about anyone's opinion. Her opinion was fact, her kid was gonna be king and guess what? She was right.
At the end she got the last laugh!

O sa zic doar atat: Margaret Beaufort este unul dintre cele mai enervante personaje ever, in rest o carte bună specifică Phillipei Gregory. Mi-au placut si ultimele câteva pag care descriau lupta dintre Richard si Henry Tudor.

Philippa Gregory has become very type cast in her writing I have found - '…and then I did this and then I did that and this is how I felt about it'. This book was also very poorly edited and seemed rushed. On the up side I enjoyed the story because I enjoyed the history. I really think she could have written in the third person and put the White Queen and the Red Queen in the same book!
This was even better the second time I read it, probably just because of my increased knowledge about the time period. She is so horrible, but in a most hilarious and wonderful way. Her "pious" comments make you think or say "did I hear that right?" Wonderful.
