This book places you in the story that it describes, not as if it were a diary but rather as those the lead female was speaking to you directly about it's content. It is a historical fiction and as long as you keep this in mind you can read the book with understanding, remembering not to look up the individuals from the book whilst you are reading. This book isn't for people who are interested in direct quotes and history lessons, but rather for those who are interested in the topic but are unaware of how to start or who they are particularly interested in.
Phillipa writes many books similar to this one, but unlike the others I would say this one is the most friendly to younger audiences as well as their parents. This story does have some death and blood, but compared to the rest of the series it does not focus on it as much. This could be because the person who is 'writing' it is suppose to be younger then those in the rest of the books, but this is just a speculation as I have not read all of the series yet.
"We do not speak of destiny again, nor of the future of England. Jasper is too busy. He is gone from the castle for weeks and weeks at a time. In the early summer he comes back with his force in tatters and his own face bruised, but smiling."

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any who like historical fiction.
I love the historical perspective Gregory gives to Margaret Beaufort; however, MB is my least favorite character in this series by Gregory, thus far. Gave it 4⭐️, but only because I couldn’t give a 3.5⭐️.
