Very repetitive.
Margaret Beaufort is one of the most unlikeable characters I've ever encountered. I understand her motives (see "very repetitive"), but ick! She's just awful. And so are most of the other characters in the book, with the exception of Jasper and Henry Stafford.
I liked learning more about this era in history, but I would have preferred an academic textbook to this dry, stagnant book.

This book was nowhere close to the quality of The White Queen. Margaret Beaufort was written as such an irritating and obnoxious character that it was difficult to keep reading at times. The only thing that made me finish the book are the two remaining in the series that I need to get back to the library quickly ... I can't start a series and not stop.

I simply didn't like the protagonist as she was so religious (and you're clearly not supposed to) but she wasn't poorly written, the opposite actually. You could see her "piety" be twisted more and more into ambition which I liked personally. I am getting tired of this generation of women and want to move to the next but I have one more before I get to.
