Not nearly as good as her later works. Was slow and predictable. Not really heart tugging or surprising. Was pretty mediocre. I finished only because I was so far along.

It was a sad story that had some moments, but overall I was annoyed by it. First of all, it felt like I was being hammered over and over again about the strength of sisterhood. It was too much too often. The whole book is about sisterhood being tested, so there was no need to have to bring it up every other page (I’ve noticed this in some of her other books too). Secondly, the story unfolded so predictably that it needed to stand on the strength of its characters, but they too were completely predictable.
