This was a fun and quick read. At times I was annoyed by all of the daydreaming that Abby did, but it subsided as the book continued.

The Summer of Jordi Perez is one of the most charming books I’ve had the pleasure of reading, and my heart is still exploding after reading this gem.
It’s quirky, hilarious, and such a feel good story with ALL THE LOVEABLE CHARACTERS! Somehow Amy Spalding has managed to create this story that’s diverse, body positive, so freaking relatable, and just all together swoon worthy.

If you need me, I’ll be adding everything Spalding has written to my TBR. ;)

A delightful YA romance that is not only queer but wonderfully diverse, about learning to love and believe in yourself, as well as learning to see things from other's points of view. A very enjoyable cast of characters, including the many burger spots of Los Angeles, shout out to Pie 'n Burger and The Apple Pan!

Very cute lesbian love story. Delightful in a white frosting kind of way.

THIS WAS SO DAMN GOOD.

There's only one other book I can think of that has a fat queer MC and that specific character is a bit too cynical and pessimistic for me (though I did really enjoy that book).

Abby is a cutie who I aspire to be honestly. She is ramble-y and bubbly and just overall really adorable. I love the way the author wrote her inner monologue, because it definitely made it easy for you to get to know her.

I really like Jordi too. I thought Abby and her were the perfect match.

I didn't like Abby's best friend, Maliah, much at all though. She wanted Abby to be there for her, but it seemed like she never wanted to be there for Abby. It also annoys me how she never really apologizes for how she acts the entire book. I know she's supposed to be Abby's BFF, but Jax was a much better friend to her. I also just really love the lovable bro type characters.

It's actually really amazing reading a book in a fat gay girl's POV because Abby feels the same way about herself that I do. I know there's nothing wrong with being fat. I know I'm cute, I don't hate my body. But I do still have insecurities. Like Abby, I really hate my photo being taken. I'm insecure about people touching my waist. It was just really really really nice to be able to read a character who feels the same way. It also helped me understand why Abby was so upset at what Jordi did, though I think it also helped me view myself the same way my friends do, like Abby's friends helped her.

I'm just really grateful for the representation. The fact that it's an ownvoice novel also makes me really happy. You can tell that the author knows what she's writing!

This is the perfect fluffy book with very little angst. It was honestly a perfect weekend read and I am so glad I picked it up.

A nice teenage love story with a great diverse cast. I felt the ending was a little abrupt.

Really cute love story. A little too happily-ever-after at the end— id like to hear more about Abby’s struggles with self esteem (as I’m in my 30s and I still haven’t mastered it, personally). But it was a fun read to kick off the summer.

i wanted to like this book, because the premise sounds cute. i really did. but. the main character is 17 and says "pouring myself coffee seems like way too adult an activity for me." i spent the rest of the book hoping she'd get better, since it's clearly a character-driven book, and she just doesn't.
