I found the book somewhat repetitive and unoriginal. At the beginning it was relatable but by halfway i wanted to give up. There were maybe 2-3 ideas in the whole book that almost commanded to be applied.

I find this style of poetry difficult - great for a personal notebook or for an inspirational calander - and perhaps a style that is popular currently but I find myself caring less and less despite the fact that all of the poems are very heartfelt and vunerable and perhaps even universally true.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
“I will not live with your guilt.
I will not carry your weight.
It is yours to carry.”
As with all poetry collections that I love, this one made me incredibly emotional. I don’t know why I’m so drawn to poetry collections about women experiencing trauma and healing (let’s not psychoanalyze that), but there’s just something about collections like this that speaks to me. The symbolism of the Phoenix is beautiful and other than some repetition this was an A+ collection.

I loved parts of this collection a lot, but there were a few parts that didn't really resonate with me which is the only reason for my 4/5 stars. Great collection overall with great poems regarding hurt and healing 💞

I read "Mind Platter" in 2019 and I loved it. Thus, I was really surprised at how less I enjoyed reading "Sparks of Phoenix". Out of 230 pages I marked down only twenty that spoke to me. The rest felt repetitive (in the thought behind the poem, words/phrases used etc) and often simplified to the level of slogans ("do this - don't do that").
Zebian has tried to compile the poems based on the narrative of a phoenix burning to and rising from ashes. The idea is great but with narrative poetry book I find it important for the narrative to be present even without the chapter titles and I am not confident to say that in this book it would be so.

Powerful, uplifting poems on recovery, with many lines that I wanted to highlight!
