I don't know if my rating is accurate to how I feel because the book got really disappointing towards the middle and even more so close to the end. nevertheless the beginning hooked me enough to make me -person who hates slow burn and doesn't have much patience- to enjoy reading it so much.
It starts really good! the banter, the closed proximity, glimpses here and there of them liking each other's company and then we reach his kingdom and the author gives us nothing! Raphael suddenly disappears and is mentioned here and there like a side character, and the mmc? training for so long without any development story wise. and then she gets annoying so annoying I wanted to kill her myself.
she hates vampires so much and stands on such false high grounds defending humans while 90% of the horror she lived has been inflicted by them. she continues to doubt Raphael while he shows her nothing but kindness and protection -I don't get why when she is so bitchy- she is horrifyed by the vampire's nature while her actions are nothing but a betraya after another to people who consider her a friend. Trusting Titus but not Raphael? what is wrong with her???? her mother's death doesn't seem execuse enough when it's not fully explained on paper.
She then goes to regret trying to poison him because he is the lesser evil of whoever succeeds him.
and now she is higher than them in the hierarchy she hates so much let's see how just she will be when her last sentence is "I was going to tear his kingdom apart, one fanged monster at a time"

I hate-read to finish this. It seemed like a promising adventure until they got to the vampire kingdom. Then it just kept dragging on and on. Then Samara got annoying and dislike-able. She flip flopped so much. I have absolutely no clue what is going on between them. It's frustrating. Raphael deserves a better partner.

Oh man I loved this book! The tense between our FMC and MMC was a great slow burn. It was interesting to see our FMC grow but I can’t wait to see what happens in book two. I NEED it now! Thank you for letting me be on the ARC team for this fantastic book!

4.25 ⭐
Samara is trapped in a magical prison for a crime she hasn't committed & her only chance of getting out is Raphael - the worst of the worst Vampires.
Had an absolute blast with this book! Loved the Narrators so much, as well as the banter between the main characters.
Will definitely be picking up more of Vasilisa's work, and will be impatiently waiting for book #2.
Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Are you kidding me?! How are you just going to end the book like that????!!!! And now I have to impatiently wait for book 2. UGH. I love the FMC so much but why did she have to do that?!
Narrator - phenominal
Vibes - 10/10
Will absolutely listen to this again before the next book comes out.
Thank you NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for a chance to listen to and review this book.
