This book was absolutely amazing! I feel so privileged to have been given the opportunity to ARC read this masterpiece. If you grew up loving Twilight and find yourself dabbling in ACOTAR or Fourth Wing even, this book is the best of all worlds put together into one amazing piece of art. In no way does it copy or try to mimic any of them in my opinion, but as you read you will find yourself fondly look back upon the parts of those books you loved and feel that warm fuzzy feeling again.
Samara is such a lovable character that I found myself relating to on so many levels. Raphael quickly became a favorite as well, along with the company he keeps, treating Samara as one of their own.
The tropes of this book are amazing and the description of intimate moments left me wanting more! The slow burn this book took on was absolutely amazing. Now excuse me while I go make this book my entire personality and bully everyone I know to read it. Cannot wait until the next book is released!
*I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review*

Audiobook ARC is coming in hot, and yes, yes, yes! Read this if you're a fantasy lover. If you're in your vamp era. I loved the world, I loved our main characters. I loved how easy the story was. This was so far up my alley I don't even know what to say about it. What I do know is I CANNOT wait for round two. Shoot it into my veins Vasilisa!!!!
I flew through this journey. Please hold, I'm off to see if Vasilisa has a back catalog for me to raid.

I Received this book as an Audiobook ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
First off I want to say, Cecily you did great!! The narration was awesome, kept me captivating when i really just wanted to just…. Not.
I give this book a 3/5. I think the first like 20% of this book was great! I was truly into the storyline and was looking forward to what happened next, after that it all just kind of went downhill for me as I realized that this was heading down the YA path; and maybe that’s my fault for expecting smut in every romantasy I read. I did not realize how YA it truly was until the book ended though, I kept waiting and waiting for the enemies to finally turn into lovers and to my dismay THEY NEVER DID!! The slow NEVER BURNED!!!
I think that’s what killed it for me, I was expecting romance where there was none. The MMC did fall first, but you never really found out why (truly for the life of me, because girlfriend was complaining about vampires THE WHOLE TIME and never did anything significant for him to fall in love with her) she betrayed him, didn’t trust him and didnt want to accept her feelings towards him, not even towards the very end.
The ending was also slightly predictable for me, although I will say that those last 30 seconds of the epilogue ALMOST KILLED ME! And not in a good way; I don’t see how this series will be a romantasy after that ending, I don’t see how it can all come together without betraying either all of her values and morals or just straight up making him look like the dumbest person for taking her back.
I appreciate the opportunity to read this ARC but I will not be continuing this series.
If you like YA, go for it.

Where do I even begin. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. It kept me invested the whole time. I loved the way that Samara’s story unraveled and how well Raphael fit into it.
The unwavering chemistry they have, the secrets that are kept, the hardships that Samara has gone through to get to where she is. Lies. Betrayal. Sacrifice. Action. Lust. It’s ALL HERE.
My only complaint is that there isn’t MORE. I know that it’s just book one in the series but I want to know more about Raphael and Samara.
Thank you so much to Vasilisa Drake for letting me be a part of the ARC team to read this incredible book. The release date is TODAY! So go grab yourself a copy now and dive into the incredible world of vampires, witches, and voids.

"He drew me deeper into the kiss, his other hand coming around my side and pressing me against him. He tasted like darkness and temptation." (Ch 42)
"Blood and blood and blood."
Magic, witches, vampires, and voids.
I went back and forth between the ALC, eARC, and print.
There are some pretty good plot twists and hidden plots, hidden identities, and secret pasts. The journey is short, yet long. Intrigue in abundance. Romance was a little iffy, often felt it was one-sided and perhaps more lust than anything. Don't get me wrong, there was a strong sense of caring and protectiveness, but I didn't get a mutual lingering and consistent longing.
There's so much, especially Sam's past, that still remains a mystery. The ending, though... the story built up to it and gave up hints, so it should have been something predictable, but the way it unfurled and came about was gripping! Left me wanting more!
"He wore red jewels. I would wear blood. Blood and blood and blood." (Ch 46)
