I liked this book, but I felt like the only well developed character was Jude. I didn’t believe that Lexi and Zach were in love even though I wanted to. Their relationship just sort of happened. This one definitely wrecked me. A lot of tears.

This was my first Kristin Hannah novel. I really enjoyed this book and her writing, however the plot and topic of this book were so heavy. The majority of this book is pretty heartbreaking and I took so much dislike to some of the characters it was hard to get through at times. At the end of the day, this novel was tough to read just because of how real Hannah's writing felt. This novel tackles such a divisive moral dilemma, so if you are looking for a book to stir up some turmoil, I recommend. Can't wait to pick up some more Kristin Hannah.

This book made me cry NUMEROUS times. Kristin Hannah is just magic.

The only reason it isn't a 5 star read is because it literally could have been cut down by at least a third and still be a great story. A better story. My cousin describes it as "too wordy" and I would absolutely have to agree with her.

I'm disappointed. Jude is unlikeable from start to finish, talk about your ultimate helicopter parent. The whole book felt forced, it felt like reading a 'bad hallmark movie'. I'm being generous giving it 2 stars.

Kristin Hannah's books always get to me. But as much as I loved this book, I was sad with the direction it took. It was so feel good and warm and fuzzy in the beginning and then decisions were made that I just wished weren't made and the rest of the book made me sad. But I still loved it. It was well done as always and really was an easy book to get into. So here's another novel I totally recommend.

“in the sea of grief, there were islands of grace, moments in time when one could remember what was left rather than all that had been lost.” (pg. 384)

Kristin Hannah is my favorite literary fiction author. hands down. Hannah weaves a tale like no other, her books are so heavy, but the right amount of heavy. compared to my favorite historical fiction author, Kate Quinn, Hannah wins when it comes to theme/importance. never, when i’m reading a Quinn book do i feel changed after reading it. yeah sure the action is really good but imo her book’s themes don’t affect me like Hannah’s do. Another 5 Stars!!

I absolutely loved this book. Could not put it down. The story is totally absorbing and I loved the characters. I like the way Kristin writes and you really get to know each and every character. Being a mother I really resonated with Jude and the decisions she has to make. Makes you question what you would do in her position. This book to me was such an emotional rollercoaster. It had me in tears several times! This is my first Kristin Hannah book but I am now purchasing others and cant wait to get stuck into them.
