A somewhat unimaginative retelling of a classic Greek myth. Written in an almost cinematic way. The fight scenes especially were anticlimactic. Only interesting enough to read through once.

Personally, I truly fancied this novel. I believe that is due to its simplicity and straight forward plot. I have seen the films and recognize the story, however actually reading it was the final close for me. It's definitely a fast read, and the way it is written keeps you pulled in. Very simple book, great story line and just a radical legend story in general!

Foster does his usual solidly enjoyable adaptation work. And I’m pretty sure that this movie was responsible for the majority of my knowledge of Greek mythology for much of my youth (and beyond…).

Good novelization, one of my favorite movies...the 1981 version, that is, not the recent piece of junk
