i feel like i have been on a life-changing journey with Alien and her court. i feel as if i was a member of The Fellowship and just witnessed the end of Sauron once and for all. but i didnt. i witnessed Aelin Galathynius be unafraid in the face of certain death. i witnessed characters i have grown to love, fight and die and give their all for their world. and it was beautiful, and heartbreaking, and sometimes, a little funny. SJM, this 

was a masterful ending. thank you.

I read this book so quickly that I'm still trying to comprehend what even happened. 

 

Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas is the final book in the Throne of Glass series, and let me tell you, this book is an absolute choker. I read all 980 pages in two sittings purely because I couldn’t put the book down, and I would not recommend doing that for the sake of your eyes and the potential for dehydration. Anyway, this book really feels like the final book. There is just so much happening all of the time, and the characters who previously were doing their own things are finally coming together in a way that is both stressful and satisfying. I will say there is not as much character development in this book, which I didn’t really have any issues with because the plot was really pulling its weight. After finishing this, I totally get why the previous book, Tower of Dawn, was kind of mellow in comparison because it was definitely the break needed before the chaos that is Kingdom of Ash. Needless to say, I am kind of sad that I am done with this series. I really enjoyed reading it, and I would highly recommend picking up this series if you like fantasy and political intrigue. Luckily, I haven't read Crescent City yet, so that can be my next monstrous undertaking to keep me busy until the next ACOTAR book comes out!

I just want to put it out there that the saddest thing by far was the self-sacrifice of the Thirteen in my opinion. I really grew to like them throughout this series, so when they died, I cried.

I love this series. I feel like the end of the plot was a bit rushed and the characters got stagnant towards the end, but that’s not the most terrible thing! It was very intense and enjoyable!

I have finally made it to the end of my Throne of Glass reading experience.
"Kingdom of Ash" is the conclusion, at least thus far, to the Throne of Glass series. Aelin Galathynius has promised to herself and her people that she would save them, but she could never have imagined what sacrifices she would have had to make to protect everyone. She is locked in an iron box at the complete mercy of the Queen of the Fae, Maeve. With all of her friends and allies scattered around the land, they will need to find a way to come together to finally end this once and for all.
What an epic and intense conclusion this book was! It was very difficult at times to read about Aelin because Sarah J. Maas goes into intense detail with the types of torture Aelin is subjected to. However, Aelin proves to be such a strong leader because she never breaks, even when she thinks she cannot bear to take any more.
I absolutely loved seeing how much Rowan loved Aelin. He would stop at nothing to bring Aelin safely home to him. It was also his commitment to her that helped Aelin survive the brutal torment Maeve put her through. It was beautiful to see their love and respect grow for one another.
I also enjoyed seeing a quick peek into Chaol's and Yrene's lives. I do really appreciate their story and how it allowed a more robust view of the world.
Overall, I was incredibly satisfied with this book. This installment in the series had a little bit of everything and really kept me invested through the entire almost 1000 pages. Once I started this book, I could not put it down because I was enthralled with the characters.
It was definitely not easy to get through this series, and this is not my favorite world from Sarah J. Maas, but I am overall happy with where everyone ended up!

very much satisfied with the ending. i’m gonna miss this series so much.

this book had it’s weaker moments, i really think it could’ve been much shorter and the pacing wasn’t that great. 

some POVs (especially at the beginning) were kinda boring. it felt off how i had to read about Aedion’s whiny complains and Chaol and Yrene’s shitty idea to meet his parents while the POVs revolving around Dorian/Manon & Aelin/Fenrys and the “looking for Aelin” team were just so much better? 

the reunions, the reveals and the action/battles were absolutely the best parts of that book, i had so much fun there. and i have almost zero complains about the ending, i loved these characters so much and i would absolutely read more of this world.
