it has been a LONG time since a book made me ugly cry like this. holy fuck. unbelievable. that alone makes this a 5 star read.

what a great conclusion to the series!!! book 1 was rocky for me, but this seriously picked up in its intrigue and quality of writing as the story progressed. i loved every second of this book. every time i had to take a break, i was fiending for more. what a fascinating blend of mythology and horror and fantasy. wow.

a lot of little things seem to be left unanswered: what happens to the garnet wizard and his curse? is heidi actually going by elise or not? (the author makes that note and then literally 5 sentences later calls her heidi again). literally everything to do with the body guard (im blanking on his name- douglas? ) and his

blessing

??? i hope more is answered/revealed in the spin off series.
