I have a lot of thoughts on this book. The amount of thoughts I list in this review entirely depends on my level of shits to give.
Firstly, how much did I actually enjoy this series? The first book, SCRUMPTIOUS. Lived by to the hype that TikTok promised me. Secon book, a DRAAAGGGG. Gods, it was boring. And uneventful. And sooooo disjointed. There were plot holes, loose ends, repetitiveness, predictability, and worst of all... unsatisfaction. I was left utterly disappointed by the second book, and DEEPLY reconsidered reading the third. In my contemplation, I thought I'd just open the third book and if it didn't grip me by the first page, I'd dnf the series. WELL, colour me pleasantly surprised. It was SPECTACULAR, griping, thrilling, giving everything the first book had promised to give. I thought, "It must've just been that thing where authors struggle through the second book in their series and the rest are completely fine." OH BOY, was I WRONG. The fourth book, A-TRO-CIOUS. SUUCH a slow, boring, unsatisfying, clunky, illogical plot and storyline. It took me an embarrassing amount of time to finish this fourth book, because of how unengaging it was.
Overall, I'd give this series a solid 6/10. Two of the books were some of the best things I'd ever read in my life, the other two some of the worst. I'm not sure how an author manages to achieve that, and within the same series too. Insanity, really.
Would I recommend this? If you're that kind of Wattpad, ao3 reader, ABSOLUTELY YES THIS WAS SCRUMPTIOUS. If you're exclusively a book reader, even if you read books that give aoz vibes, I would say probably not. That's because aoz readers are build different. They're able to withstand a LOT, as long as there is a hot mmc somewhere in the midst. And there's four in this one 🫣ðŸ¤.
