This is a mystery murder that took place over 10 years ago. Brodie is a mom who is currently separated from her husband when she is invited to teach a 2 week class at her old boarding school. She had gotten into this school when her mother abandoned her in the care of two Mormons and they took pity and center to the school. Her brother and father that died perfectly and so Brody was kind of an outsider. She meets her very good friend there and Fran comes again later in the story when Brody goes back to teach. When she is a senior Brody's roommate Talia is killed. The athletic trainer is convicted of the crime but Brody always wonders if he really did it. Brody is a podcaster about starlites who have died. She allows one of her students in her classes to start looking at the case again. A lot of stuff is brought up and it makes her really question what she knows about the case. Most of the book you think she is blaming the music teacher cuz he had an affair with Talia. But then at the very end you learn that it most likely was the boyfriend. However even though she inserts herself into the investigation and quite annoyingly so tries to change the outcome they are unsuccessful in getting a new trial for the convicted athletic trainer. I did not enjoy how the character really over asserted herself into the defense of the convicted. I did however like how they kept bringing up the me too movement and how the author cleverly said things in the news that could have been many things we live through.

Cudowna. Zdecydowanie polecam.

I really wanted to unravel the whole story so I was hooked. It left me with a lot of unanswered questions, not even just the big ones, but lots of little ones as well. I recognize that was kind of the whole point, as well as a lot of it having to do with the Me Too movement, but gosh darn it if I can’t STAND not having things resolved. Narrator was kind of annoying, but I think that served the book better than some angelic voice leading us through this. This is like the one freaking book where I would have liked a map at the beginning.
