2.5 stars. There was a lot going on in this book, and I don’t think any of it was examined or handled as well as it could have been. The main character was unbelievably naive in some ways, along with making every situation all about herself.

This book drew me in almost immediately and was so hard to put down. It intelligently brings together true crime, #metoo, racism, the justice system, and the inadequacies of memory. It was at times frustrating, but relatable in its frustration (not the writing - the writing was excellent). I highly recommend this for anyone who is interested in any of the topics I mentioned above.

Felt like so many good ideas but all just fell pretty flat by the end of it. No point was truly driven home and probably could have been like 75 pages shorter
