Рева в офиса. Тази книга е толкова различна от всичко което съм чела... и толкова добре написана! Реших съвсем случайно да я изслушам тъй като е кратка... в началото е малко трудна за хващане, но историята е доста интересна. Бих я чела пак.

This novella was inspired by the Great Depression with stories from struggling families and it is clear how the two closely-knit characters of George and Lennie deeply reflect the families striving in vain for the façade that is the American Dream - a source of great hope in times of despair.

I think the play/novelette style of writing is very cleverly executed and hooks the reader with themes of conflict contrasted with the beautiful descriptions of the mountains. The tranquil depictions of nature are constant throughout the book and may highlight how deceptive apperances can be in nature as well as in humans. Steinbeck said the main message of this book is for people to "Try to understand eachother" and that people may not be as they seem from the outside so you must try to understand them to reveal the truth.
