Another fantastic romance from Georgia Beers! Her work continues to evolve into beautifully crafted stories with deep emotions. So much is conveyed in a short period of time in this story. I'm also thrilled that this takes place during the holiday seasons of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's, which are my favorite times of the year for love stories, especially when there is snow.

Olivia has been the assistant manager at the Evergreen Resort, basically doing the job of the manager due to his incompetence. When she is overlooked for the manager's job, she is a very bitter and surly character, one that I didn't much care for at first. But when she meets Hayley while out on a walk one day in the woods, her life changes. Hayley turns out to be the new manager, only because her father owns the resort and is punishing her by bringing her into the family business and making her work. I really liked the Hayley character, mainly because even though she is in over her head, she still tries to plow through things. She doesn't give up. She tries to learn, even if it is not what she wants to do. Both she and her father are still grieving the loss of her mom 2 years earlier, so there are lots of emotions there, from the anger and loneliness that her father feels, to the sadness that Hayley feels. The reader gets to feel those emotions as the holidays come on and how different her experiences are to Olivia, who has her family close by.

The relationship that builds between Olivia and Hayley is filled with passion. They both know that it isn't a good thing to get together because they work together, but they can't fight the feelings that they have. When they finally are together, sparks fly and make for a wonderful love scene.

I could very easily see this book being turned into a movie. The way it is written and paced sets itself up to be shot as a movie, which I would love to see.

I highly recommend this as a sweet love story for the holidays.

This one was cute, though predictable as all the others. I did enjoy the characters though.

Aaaah. Reading a Georgia Beers novel is like snuggling under a blanket in front of the fireplace, drinking hot cocoa and just...relax. Every book she writes is a joy to read. Her characters are very real, and the writing is always good. I always have fun when reading Georgia Beers. To be recommended!

Geogia Beers does it again! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Olivia and Haley had immediate chemistry when they met one cold morning, but naturally when Olivia found out that Haley took the job she was supposed to get, romance wasn't quick to happen. Both of these main characters were extremely likable. Olivia's mom was a doll and Haley's dad finally admitting how he wronged her was poignant. I enjoyed the fact that there wasn't a whole lot of unnecessary drama in this book. It was just a nice book with two nice and normal main characters navigating the choppy waters to one another. Thanks Georgia for another great book!

Not a bad book, but the scenario felt a little too close to home (and not in a good way) with the main character being continually passed over for promotions. The meet cute was adorable though, and I really liked the dog. I may revisit this eventually in the future.

I didn't know the author and if lesbian romance is her thing, I had no clue. Got me by surprise, but it was nicely written for the most part. The excessive dramatisation and voice-altering of the actor who read the book tho was quite annoying at times.

I've now read this twice, so maybe time for a review?

First things first, because this is the type of thing that bothers me. The title of this novel hinges on a walk the protagonists make where they meet unexpectedly--the only two people walking in the woods--on a snowy morning in November. It's the first thing that happens in the novel and the last thing referenced at the end of the novel. And that final reference, along with the title, mention a "winter" walk. But last time I checked, November (and November before Thanksgiving) wasn't in the winter. And ugh. It's such a simple thing and I know--I KNOW--I'm being pedantic but it's not a hard thing to get right. And it just irks me.

Okay, now that that's out of my system...
One Walk in Autumn Winter is the first Georgia Beers book I ever read, and it's wonderful. It's Georgia Beers at her best because now that I've read several of her books, I've not read one that quite lives up the expectations this book has set in terms of what Beers is able to do.

The premise: Olivia meets a stranger meet in the woods one early snowy morning and it's one of those moments for these women when you know that your life has changed forever. There's attraction and in invitation for coffee, and a promise that life is a little bit better after this stolen moment in the woods. That is until Olivia discovers later that morning that the attractive, life-changing stranger, Haley, is her new boss and has taken the position Olivia has patiently and steadfastly worked hard to to earn, having spent years as the assistant manager under an incompetent manager. And now that the position is open, she's heartbroken when she isn't offered the promotion. It hurts even more when she learns that Haley is not even competant in her new role. So there's tension and bad feelings, but there's also attraction.

Beers does so many things right in this novel. There's drama and miscommunication but it all makes sense within the structure of the narrative. Mingling this tension with real attraction makes it all the more satisfying. Beers could have made Olivia an absolute bitch or Haley a stuck up trust-fund baby, but Beers manages to avoid those pitfalls and gives us multi-dimensional characters who must navigate an unfair and impossible circumstance. The question is: Can their attraction override everything else?

I loved this the first time I read and loved it when I read it again. And it's the perfect time of year to read this, as it takes place just before Thanksgiving in November and ends on New Year's Day. We even get an epilogue, which I've come to not expect in Beers' novels, so that's nice, too.

I did not think this book would make me as emotional as it did. Gosh! The author really made me fall in love with the characters, everything they felt, I felt too. I actually picked up this book thinking it would be a pleasant read but I'm glad to say it was so much more than that. I love reading books that I can come back to whenever I miss the characters and I'm glad to say this is definitely one of them. I love it when my list of favourite grows and I'll happily add this one to the list. 5/5 because I don't want to be overly critical. The writing was good, the character development was good and I appreciate it when authors give value and structure to the secondary characters so no complaints from me. :)

An honest review thanks to NetGalley. This was another great read by Beers. Being immersed in the life of the hotel and watching as Hayley struggled with her position were very enlightening. The characters made this story even better and the chemistry between Hayley and Olivia was amazing. Fantastic love story.
