I liked this one more than the first, as the writing seemed a bit better. I also liked that this story had two mysteries to solve, and appreciated how things came together in the end, even if I did have a pretty good idea of what was going on. Nonetheless, this was a fun way to spend a couple hours, and a nice trip back to my childhood. The nostalgia is strong!

Much more fun than the first book--felt like higher stakes, and the mystery was more solvable for the reader (which always makes it more fun). The new characters were likable, and the villain was fairly creepy and off-putting, which is always a plus. Nancy didn't seem to be quite the golden child she was in the previous book (although she, like Mary Poppins, remains practically perfect in every way).

I was going to give Nancy three books to impress me, so assuming the next one isn't abysmal I guess this is a thing I'm doing now.

More harrowing than The Secret of the Old Clock for sure, as Nancy’s dad vanishes without a trace and even though you know he’s not going to be murdered (this being a kids book and all), it’s a wonder Nancy can still focus on solving the mystery. Nancy Drew is #goals though, she’s stylish, well-mannered, and good at everything.

In this installment of the series, Nancy is approached to solve a mysterious ghostly haunting. Is there a ghost at Twin Elms? Or is something more nefarious afoot?

I first read this book approximately 25 years ago. I enjoyed reading it then, and I enjoyed reading it this time. It was a very quick and easy read. I am so glad that these books are still around.

I loved Nancy Drew as a young girl. This was the first one I ever read.

My students and I loved this book. They hung onto every word I had and Keene does a great job at ending chapters on cliffhangers, which left my students wanting more. I feel like the ending was a bit rushed, but my students didn't seem to mind. This definitely won't be our last Nancy Drew mystery.

- At first I was a little embarrassed reading Nancy Drew, but I'm going to take Stephanie Perkins' advice, and I'm not going to be ashamed of anything I enjoy reading, so here it is: I really like reading these Nancy Drew books! I feel like I missed out when I was younger.

- The title kind of gives away some of the mystery. I don't like that.

- I liked that this story was a pretty different mystery than the first one. I enjoyed the ghost story element and creepy old houses!

- There was some added danger to Nancy's family, and it made the mystery even more urgent.

- Nancy is very confident, and she has a lot of courage. I would not go hunting for ghosts in creepy attics and basements, but she did it willingly! I also like that Nancy is very polite and considerate. She has good character!

- I liked that the police weren't useless. I hate it in movies and books when the police are totally useless and the protagonists have to do everything themselves. Nancy involves the police and helps them, and she lets the police do their job! Thank you!

- I thought the ending was a bit abrupt, but everything was solved, so I guess it was ok. I like that the book doesn't have a bunch of added fluff, and the story moves along quickly.
