While I wouldn’t have personally written the second half of Season 8 the way it was, I think given that it took these turns that this was a solid wrap up to everything that has happened! There was plenty of action, maybe a little too much exposition, some REAL sadness, and a broadening of the Buffyverse that could potentially be a lot of fun to see explored in the future (coughBugSpaceshipcough).

The plot had grown a little too big and out of control, so the writers had quite a bit to reign in, and it was a good effort! I feel satisfied with this ending. I don’t ~adore~ it, mainly because several choices and action seem vaguely out of character, and because the universe got WAY bigger without a lot of buildup, but it was a good time and I’m glad I read it nevertheless!

I really don't know what they were thinking with this whole season eight storyline. I didn't really care for it.

A nice wrap up to the season but a lil hard to follow at times. Big slay, pun intended.

What a horrible, horrible way to desecrate the corpse of a long-dead story. The TV series was without a doubt one of the best ones out there and it had the best ending one could have hoped for.

These comics are a desperate attempt to create a new cash cow (which probably worked) out of it by inventing terrible and ridiculous story lines which don't even make sense and in some cases completely ruin the show.

Even though I didn't like most of what went on in season 8, I couldn't stop reading them. It was still interesting and there were definitely some good bits. This trade felt like it was trying to rein the crazy in but good lord why would you kill one of my favorite characters! Sigh.

I tried really hard to like the series translated into comics. And it was fun because it was some of the characters and dialogue. But overall it was too big, too broad, too epic (even more so than the show) to be relatable. Both the triumphs and losses seemed too small (or maybe too distant) and too fast. I probably won't continue to season 9.

Spike is back!!! That pretty much redeems this volume for me because ... well ... Spike. I was definitely surprised by how the season ended, and I appreciated Joss Whedon's note at the end of it all, saying his direction will change for season 9. Guess I'll have to read it now. When I first started reading this season, I couldn't decide if I wished I'd just stopped at the TV series or not--I think I'm glad I read this continuation, though, and now I'm eager to read Kiersten White's Slayer.

Buffy saves the world and everyone (with the exception of Spike) hates on her? I'd say at least some of the gist of the TV series was successfully preserved. This first season got a bit carried away with the possibilities of the new medium and kinda forgot to pay more attention to what Buffy is all about. Hint: it's not (only) the monsters.

A little bit hard to follow the Twilight plot. Also very sad :'(. Looking forward to Season 9 and the plot lines that Joss has created.
