Love Rand and Stef!! I really enjoyed this follow up to [b:Timing|7781751|Timing (Timing, #1)|Mary Calmes|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1267185739s/7781751.jpg|10706211]. The whole rodeo debacle was quite funny. Only Stef would think he would be able to participate in a rodeo with NO CLUE about what he is doing. :-) Great book!

Such great writing

Calmes is such a great writer with such a gift for telling an emotionally wrenching story without becoming maudlin. She gets you invested in the characters so that you feel for them and with them. The detail in her words allow the reader to visualize the settings so well and to feel whatever emotions or tensions are pulsing through a scene.

Lots of powerful emotions in this one, both positive and negative. We’ve got humor and loyalty and snark and joy and friendship. It we”be also got anger and hate and homophobia and manipulation. It all combines into a riveting story. I’m very anxious to see how Glenn’s story plays out in book three.

Have I mentioned I like cowboys?

Anyways!!

This was a really good follow up to 'Timing' but there wasn't enough Rand for my liking. I'm greedy like that!!

Still nice to see how Stef and Rand are getting on after 2 years together. Not sure about the family subplot but I enjoyed the Rodeo. Would have been better with Rand there but whatever.

Nice wrap up two years after Stef and Rand fight and love their way to coupledom! This one focuses on Rand's family with some interesting surprises among the Holloways. I love Mary Calmes' MCs. Particularly those guys loved by everyone, are capable and organized and stunningly handsome. That's Stef! The rodeo was hysterical. Loved the ranch hands and color me surprised by Glenn! What a twist among these hard weathered cowboys! Love this line "Like horses that don’t get rode ’cept at the rodeo." Indeed!! Looking forward to reading book 3.

Re Read - Re Listen 2021

In someways I like this follow up better than the first. I don't find Stefan so selfish in this one. He is more settled and becomes even more settled as the book progresses.
I enjoyed his interactions with the cowboys from the ranch. There were some really funny moments that had me cackling away whilst walking my dog, I'm sure made me look a bit looney but well worth it.
I loved the rodeo setting, it really gave Stefan a chance to come into his own and take ownership of the ranch for a change. Scenes with both Rand and Stefan were also a hit as always

Listening to Glenns book next.

There are fewer laughs in this novel, which is part two of Stef and Rand's story, but considering the evolution of nearly everyone around them while they try to do their best for those they love, now that Stef is staying, it's no less needed.

I didn't mention this in my review of Timing, but I was raised around cowboys. They really aren't all that chatty, generally. Stef stirs things up.

Great read. This is a typical Mary Calmes book. Stef is the most perfect man to ever walk the earth, loved by all, impossible to hate. And Rand is the strong tough alpha male, charmed and frustrated by him, but loves him beyond measure. MC has a formula, but damned if it doesn't work. I love Rand so much, and Stef is just fun. I really enjoy getting to see their relationship beyond the first blush of love. Where it's more centered and comfortable. I loved all the supporting characters, even the douchebags. They really weren't HORRIBLE. Just a very comforting read, you know what you're gonna get, and you know you're gonna enjoy it.
