Great Story, I think my idea of contemporary books might be changing. Never really enjoyed them but there seems to be a rash of them that have caught me eye. Twinkle is a lovable character with many flaws. So she seems real, she has boy problems and a secret admirer and a friendship that is fading fast. As an aspiring filmmaker Twinkle has a lot to learn, friends come and go, boys are odd and what you hope for isn’t really what you need. So with a movie plan for her high school dance and a camera she will realize what it’s like to follow your dreams but also to learn not to out run them.

This book is SO cute! Sandhya Menon writes adorkable characters that I completely fall in love with. I can't wait to read what she writes next!

I wanted and light hearted YA with an Indian protagonist after binging "Never have I ever" on Netflix and I ended up binging this too! This gives off such strong Princess Diaries (the book series) vibes and it exceeds expectations, in part due to the nostalgia factor. Twinkle like Mia offers a very very realistic portrayal of teen behaviour. She's very flawed, erratic, passionate in her craft, overthinking and overdramatic, having fought with her version of Lily but 2018 Japanese girl, an overachiever named Maddie (they make up in the end in a very Lily and Mia scene), having a secret admirer who proves to be somebody completely different than the one she has originally have hoped for and falling for unexpectedly for the nerdy chic guy who doesn't know how brilliant or wonderful he is and has liked her since the very beginning. Have I spoiled the entire book for you? Yes, to an extent. Does it matter? Not really, it's fluffy and makes your heart full and it's everything you expect from a YA contemporary romance set it high school!
lighthearted relaxing medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character

I loved Twinkle's voice, she came across as a smart and capable but flawed young woman. Audio narration was also excellent and very engaging. I just found the plot predictable (is that the draw of romantic comedies? It's not my genre, I'm not sure.), if enjoyable.

Didn't really enjoy this. I didn't enjoy her POV being to female directors but I liked that she wrote to different ones. She also became a major megalomaniac and pretty unlikeable with her internal poor me monologs and hypocritical attitude.

From Twinkle, With Love was utterly adorable and a delight to read. It was filled with uplifting, funny, inspiring, strong, well rounded, imperfect characters and relationships. It was incredibly easy to read and my heart feels a little lighter after doing so. It made me smile, stress and squee in equal amounts. Although I didn’t enjoy this as much as When Dimple Met Rishi and there were a few plot points I didn’t love quite so much, I throughly enjoyed this book. I loved the nod to women in film and Twinkle’s journey to accomplishing her dreams, whilst discovering who she is and learning to believe in herself. Each and every moment of this reading experience was a joy and I would without a doubt recommend it.

This was the perfect read for summer. Self actualization, romance, and friendship all combine for a bollywood worthy read. Perfect for teens in search of a light romance or gentler realistic fiction.
