Spoilers, kind of?

Twinkle is one of the most infuriating characters I've encountered.

I wound up really liking this read. I sruggled a bit the her first book but this book was one that i really enjoyed. I loved how this book was told through letters and you did some both the female character and also the crush to be and was able to get in both of their heads. I wish we got into the boy head a bit more often. I also loved how this book tackled the film industry, friendship drama and complicated family dyamanics. I also love the twin dymnanics that was featured. I also loved how this book focused on indian culture and loved learning more about it. I will admit the end of the book did make me tear up. I am so excited to read more by this author in the future.

4/5 Stars.

Second book of the Summer Biannual Bibliothon 2018, completing the challenge “An own voices novel”.

This was so cute! The first half had me absolutely captivated, but there did come a part where I wasn’t completely there, hence the 4 Stars.

I’m glad that this featured not only a brown main character, but a female film maker at that. It was a great read about a feminist who wanted to change the world.

I liked EVERY character in this book. Although I think most of them did some messed up things, in the end I could see the reason they did these things, and understood them. That being said, I’m not excusing them.

Twinkle annoyed me for about 33% of this book to an extent of CRINGING. I couldn’t handle reading some of the things she did without cringing, but overall I really enjoyed her character. My favorite character has to be Victoria, though. She was so sweet.

The Maddie and Twinkle best friend dynamic was interesting to read about because best friends growing apart is such a real thing, and I feel it was portrayed well.

Sahil was amazing. I’m not going to lie, though, I thought Neil was going to be a bigger part in the story. I didn’t mind him not being one, though.

I feel like half of my reviews are ended with me apologizing for rambling, but damn this one really was a cluster.

3 stars

It was a cute read but I didn't enjoy it as much as When dimple met rishi.
Sadly I think I am a little too old for these high school romances now and this one felt very young to me. I also found it a little shallow at times and wasn't a massive fan of the ending.
I loved the whole filming aspect and the indian culture.
It was a cute read but not an outstanding one.

Loved it so much! as a female filmmaker I'm like SOBBING and this is absolutely beautiful! Here's my video review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6umh14cQncI

The romance was fabulous!!!! Menon's stories continue to be incredibly sweet and passionate and her sophomore novel establishes that she's an incredible voice in YA, especially for POC/ownvoices rep.

DNF @ a little over 1/3. This just wasn't it for me. I read Dimple and really liked that book but this felt like an entirely different author had written it.

I received this book in an OwlCrate box and I finally decided to pick it up and read it. Unfortunately I didn't really really enjoy this book. I ended up DNFing the book at page 83. I might try to read the book in the future but at the moment I don't feel the need to read it.

From what I've read so far the main character Twinkle annoys me. I don't like how she acts toward her 'best friend', even though I know that they are in a rocky place right now and they don't hang out as much. I feel as though she is a little selfish about how she treats her. I also don't like how she is so incentive towards Sahil, who I believe is going to be a love interest in the book. I feel as though she is only using him for her own gain. I also probably didn't enjoy the book because of the writing style. I like the format is for a journal entry but after a while the voice of Twinkle got to be frustrating.

3. Pretty solid and mostly fun. Some of the drama was annoying, but I enjoyed the rest.
