This is book two of the series and it kinda piggy-backs on the story from the previous book. This one is centre around a character that was abused by the aliens and it is about her overcoming that with her mate/alien.
I really don't know how I feel about this book, it tells an interesting story about a survivor and how she is trying to get back to her normal self but there were just too many pieces missing from the surrounding.
I liked but the eternal struggle was developed but I kinda imagined them in this white room all the time.
Maybe I am just a little more plot-driven and this isn't what this book is about. The characters are great, the MMC is trying so hard to make sure she gets back up again and he calls her his little warrior and all. But I'm curious as to how the experiments are going, are they ever going to get out of that lab? is there any advances on obtaining more rights for humans and Rahki couples?
I have so many questions about the world and the first book made me so hopeful about getting some answers that I was kinda expecting something here.
Anyways it's a good 3 stars I don't think I am qualified to talk about how her internal struggle with the abuse is portrayed but for everything else, I think the rating is a fit.
I won't be continuing the series tho.

LOVING this series!
Few books in 2020 have really been able to hold my attention but this one sure did! I love the alpha males, the quirky characters, and all the weird alienisms. Callie was such a real character dealing with some seriously big emotions and issues and I really enjoyed reading about her processing and overcoming them.

This one was very different than the first. Not bad just different. I will say that you MUST read the first one to not be totally lost with this installment.
medium-paced
Probably closer to a 2.5 star, because it was so so so much better than some of the other things I've tried reading on KU, so I want to round it up but...
There serious grammar and continuity issues, and the first 3 chapters were like the book equivalent of that shaky camera effect they like to use during action shots.
But it was really quite thoughtful and touching how the issue of rape was handled. There was no magical healing genitals, sex and affection was a tool used to move past the trauma, not as a fix-all. So the author gets points back for handling a tough subject well, if not with perfectly spelled sentences. I think with better editing this could have easily been a much better story.
It was nice to see some continuation from the first books characters too.
I definitely will give this author another try if I come across something that catches my eye.
