If you’re going to read this I recommend getting the audiobook from your library as it contains interview audio with Bundy and Ridgeway. Separately of course.

This is a very interesting book, but too much focus was placed towards justifying and clarifying police action. I was more interested in where these women were found and how Ridgeway was able to evade capture for so long.
It was fascinating to listen to the interviews with Ridgeway and Bundy. It was also intriguing to hear Reichert's theories on Ridgeway keeping souvenirs and his speculation on how Ridgeway thought.

This was a quick read. I listened to the audiobook. It details Reichert's journey from detective to county sheriff. While this book dealt with very dark themes: murder, rape, serial killings; it is redeemed by Reichert and his whole team's dedication to the community they serve. His journey was interesting as he was the first person to find the victims of the Green River Killer and lead the taskforce of many years and continued to hunt him until his capture.

Fantastic piece of true crime writing! Reichert gives the reader an honest, unglamorous look at what it's really like to hunt down a serial killer. He also touches on how the case affected him personally without allowing his own experience to overshadow the story of his work. The audiobook also has the added bonus of excerpts of recorded interviews he did with Ted Bundy and the Green River Killer.

- "No other serial killer in U.S. History had killed so many people."
- straight-forward, detailed police procedural...but depressing!
