Seems never ending....I have no inclination to finish it

Fairly good but it took far too long for anything to happen. Due to the slow start, it was not as gripping as it could have been.
dark mysterious tense

I listened to this book via audiobook and I really enjoyed the way the narrator spoke. She didn't overact with the dramatic scenes as I have found some narrators do. When I first read the story I was instantly sucked into the world. There were enough unsettling incidents without being too much all at once. Elle seemed so real and not the stereotypical writer. Since she hadn't written her second book the looming deadline added a sense of pressure to the plot that wasn't just about the home invader. I did also like how all of the small things added up together. Like the paperweight and the deleted Airbnb profile. I also really enjoyed the chapters that were from the perspective of the mysterious person living in Elle's house. I did find that although some characters were really distinct, Elle's sister, for example, other characters were forgettable. I had completely forgotten about Mark after we were first introduced to him, and got really confused when he showed up again. I liked the 2003 chapters but I did feel they were dragging a bit. I knew where they were leading up to and it just felt way too slow. I did enjoy that both Elle and the reader were able to get closer to the situation from his wife. Whilst this plot point was planned out and had a satisfying conclusion, I did feel that some plot lines came out of nowhere. One example of this is when her sister's husband suddenly wanted to cheat on his wife with Elle. There was no lead-up to that in previous interactions. It was just a side plot to make Elle seem crazier. After it happened an explanation was shoehorned in by Elle's sister telling the reader that there was an unrequited love. It would've been much more effective if we were shown it in earlier chapters. Even if it were only mentioned once or twice so we could look back and realise what it had been leading up to. This book would've been 4 stars if it weren't for the ending. I didn't like the fact that the reveal ended up being her sister. I felt that it came out of nowhere. I would've preferred it to someone that was actually set up to be the intruder. Her sister's anger and resentment didn't fit with what we had already been shown. I know that characters lie and have secrets, but this seemed too unbelievable. The ending fight also seemed unrealistic. Especially since Elle sustained barely any injuries from jumping from a flaming balcony. Also, when it was revealed that Elle's sister stole her novel and published it and it was meant to also be the book that we were reading seemed very sloppy and disjointed compared to the rest of the novel.

Addictive and consuming. I love the breadcrumbs of clues left behind. The best psychological thriller I read in 2018.

This was a brilliant Psychological Thriller that kept me in suspense the whole way through the story . Highly recommend this book .

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of Lucy Clarke’s You Let Me In. The rating and review are my own thoughts and opinions, and have not been influenced by receiving this book to read.

My first Lucy Clarke book and I enjoyed it. It won’t be putting her to the top of my favourite author list but I would certainly read another book by her in the future so I guess she is now on my radar.

The AirBnb aspect is very relevant at the moment and made this book feel creepier for me (whilst reading in a rented AirBnb!) Suitable red herrings and twists however, after initially being suspicious of every character in the book I did realise who the ‘culprit’ (probably not the right word for this book) was before the big reveal.

Uz to, naravno, likovi imaju problema s nesanicom i alkoholom.
