I think I held my breath most of the way through this! This was the story of Elle who lives alone in a cliff top house and she is sure that someone is watching her and moving around in her house taunting her - there’s so many clues as to who it might be and why but I didn’t guess the exact reason so the ending was a shocker! So creepy and scary but I loved it! There was one part of the story which seemed really farfetched and unnecessary but if you take it on face value instead of over analysing it, it adds to the drama!

Hey, das war seit längerem mal wieder ein Thriller, der mir gut gefallen hat- gar nicht blutig, aber trotzdem wirklich spannend bis fast zur letzten Seite. Ich habe die ganze Zeit mitgerätselt, wer jetzt für die seltsamen Ereignisse im Haus verantwortlich war und hatte den Täter auch schon ziemlich früh im Verdacht, aber so richtig sicher war ich mir bis zum Schluss nicht, also wirklich sehr gut geschrieben.

Dabei mochte ich die Hauptfigur noch nicht mal wirklich, ich fand sie irgendwie nervig und anstrengend. Es wird ziemlich schnell klar, dass sie einen psychischen Knacks hat, sie leidet unter Schlaflosigkeit und scheint auch in der Vergangenheit einige Traumata erlebt zu haben, von denen man in Rückblenden erfährt.

Auch die Sprecherin, die ihren Job handwerklich sehr ordentlich macht, war nicht so ganz mein Fall - ich bin mir aber nicht sicher, ob das daran lag, dass ich die Hauptfigur nicht mochte oder ob mir der Erzählton auch sonst arrogant und snobistisch vorgekommen wäre.

Das Setting an Cornwalls Küste fand ich sehr schön, da hätte ich gerne noch ein bissle mehr erfahren. Insgesamt aber ein sehr ordentlicher Spannungsroman, ich vergebe 4 von 5 Sternen und kann mir gut vorstellen, noch mehr von Lucy Clarke zu lesen oder zu hören.

I’ve been a huge fan of Lucy Clarke ever since her first novel came out and I’m so pleased to say that You Let Me In lived up to my very high expectations! Elle is feeling increasingly unsettled in her home ever since she rented it out when she was away. She can’t put her finger on what’s wrong but something just doesn’t feel right. The tension in this book keeps ratcheting up to the point where you can’t be sure if Elle is having a breakdown, or if she is right to be worried and that someone is out to get her. There are a few people who may have it in for her and so you’re kept on your toes all the way through this novel. I was sure I had it all worked out but I was wrong and the reveal when it comes is shocking! I definitely recommend this one!
