Measured, articulate, and important; a monumental achievement and debut. Faye opens with the assertion that ‘the liberation of trans people would improve the lives of everyone in our society’ and throughout the following chapters she makes that clear and compelling argument consistently and with nuance. If I have any criticisms it’s in the ways huge topics are grappled with, but with the audience and starting point in mind here it’s completely understandable. This should be mandatory reading in schools / uni and is a book that I wish I’d found / been pointed towards as a young adult. (4.5*)
