I already planned not to rate or review this until I've read part 2 because it's only half a book and I really can't judge it yet. But reading the afterword by Sanderson and learning why it was divided and how he chose the point in the story deliberately in the middle of a segment, confirmed my decision. It's always fascinating to see an author's thought process.

2024: minor problem of having access to the entire first book as an ebook and having NO idea when part 1 ends and part 2 starts... But I'm 70% of the way through the entire book, so I'm gonna assume I've made it into part 2 now... I can't distinguish my feelings between part 1 and what I've covered of part 2... But this is a well written, high fantasy. Big fan, so I guess I'll bump up the rating??

2022: 4 stars

I really enjoyed this!! it took about a hundred to get into the groove (a lot of history, different nations etc.) but afterwards it was really entertaining. I liked the different complex characters and just the whole world. keen for the next books.
