I was hooked pretty early in this story. The premise of the lawyers both believing that their client, each representing one of the two sisters believed to have murdered their father. Was it one of them? Was it both of them? According to each sister, they are innocent, and it was the other sister who did it. I absolutely loved the idea of this book, and for the most part, the execution was well done. I loved the idea of both of them really doing all that they could to prove their innocence from the first step, including calling 911 at the time to blame each other, and the POV changes to show the murderer's thoughts really sold it as well. Every detail was so well thought out and really kept throwing me off and making me question who I believed was the one who did it. Granted, I guessed the truth early on, but the writing was so well done that I kept second guessing myself.

Thank you to Steve Cavanagh, Atria Books, and NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Liked the concept of having only two suspects for a murder, with in between chapters from POV of SHE who is the actual killer. But execution did not quite live up to expectations. The end was predictable and the "one murder too many" (sorry no spoilers) did not go down well with me.
dark fast-paced

I actually loved this one. Part 4 was a suspense masterclass. The pacing was fast and I felt like it really was 50/50 for me until the end.

suprise suprise the mentally ill sister killed their dad. who would have seen this coming.

psycopathy isn’t a mental illness ?? self-harm is presented in court as indicative of murder ??
very “and then everyone clapped” ending.

✨What it is about:
Two sisters are found at the scene of their father’s murder, each claiming the other did it. Only one is telling the truth.✨

💭My thoughts:
This story totally hooked me from the start! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, constantly second-guessing what I thought I knew. Two sisters, total opposites, are both found at the scene of their dad’s murder, and they each call 911 blaming the other. How do you even begin to trust either one???
The story unfolds with all kinds of twists, secrets, and shifting loyalties. It really keeps you guessing. Just when I thought I had it figured out, something else would throw me off. Both lawyers are determined to go all in to prove their client’s innocence. I really enjoyed seeing both sides of the case play out.
It’s not just a mystery, it’s a huge psychological game, and it messes with your head in the best way. If you’re into twisty thrillers that keep you guessing until the end, you’ll get through this one pretty quickly. I really enjoyed it.
