I really did enjoy it, even if I think it wasn’t the best in a line of celebrity memoirs. I mean, I cried more than I laughed.

More thoughts:

I neither liked her more nor less than I did before reading it.

It also started to fall apart at the end, in terms of structure. It became much more stream of consciousness than previous chapters, so be warned. Towards the end, there were several things that I had to read a few times before understanding the intent of the passage. It seemed like the book’s editor just gave up.

However, I stayed up late a few nights in a row to read it - so it was certainly interesting and compelling!

I absolutely loved this book, not only because Busy has such a fun personality but because it is raw. Something that I loved about the book that I know others haven't is that the writing is not perfect. This is not going to be a book that you think was helped written by a professional writer, but it is Busy's real and raw feelings. The use of CAPITALIZATION made me laugh and made me feel like I was listening straight to someone's thoughts.

The biggest reason that I loved this book though was that Busy told it like it was. She was not afraid to call out misogynistic or awful people she had met, even if they were famous. She was not afraid to talk about her struggles with anxiety and depression. She was not afraid to talk about loss. She was not afraid to talk about the difficulties of giving birth, being a new mom, or being married. Listening to how people we look up to do not have it all together just reminds me that it is okay that I do not have it all together either.

Thank you, Busy, for this fun and eye-opening memoir!

"I have anxiety attacks and eat nachos and drink margaritas and live my life and live my life and live my life and live my life. For me. For you. To entertain you. To be seen. It's the only thing I've ever wanted."

I enjoyed Busy's book very much! She's a fun and amusing person, and it was entertaining to be in her head for a bit. I can relate to being "too much", and I admire her boldness and honesty.

This book is like talking to your friend - it's very comfortable & easy to become invested in. There are rambling tangents at times throughout the book, but that's part of the conversational aspect.

I truly appreciate that Busy was willing to share some of these stories. There are some tough topics in here, and although Busy isn't perfect (none of us are), she is open & embraces her flaws. I would read another book by her if she ever writes one. Thank you to Touchstone for sending me a copy to review!

Busy Philipps was first introduced to me on Freaks & Geeks. I've been her fan ever since, but I can't say I've seen everything she's been in either. An algorithm somewhere recommended her book to me and because I loved the cover and I love reading the memoirs of funny women I added it to my collection.

I'm not going to talk about anything specific because I don't want to spoil any of her great stories. This reads very much like a real life Judy Blume novel. There are sad points, poignant points, and hilarious points. Everything about this makes me want to read more, I would really love a follow-up in a couple of years because I know much has happened in her life since the end of this one.

Busy is not only gorgeous and hilarious, she's also a really good person and a really good role model for women. I'm very happy that this was recommended to me, excellent recommendation. Now I'm going to spend the next couple of weeks going back and watching everything she's been in, just as an excuse to finish up with a rewatch of Freaks & Geeks. I tend to rewatch it every couple of years and I think it's been quite some time since I've seen it last.

I'm going to give this one five stars. I have been trying this year to give things ratings that are more constructively critical because I've been accused of being Oprah like in my five-star ratings in the past. This one deserves all five of those stars. Busy delves into some painful parts of her past in a way that can be really helpful to people who are also struggling with those same things. She talks about her activism in a way that shows she doesn't consider it activism as much as just being a good person, which I can relate with because I feel the same way. She also talks about struggles that she has in her relationships and with her current husband (current at the time of publication, they've since divorced). I almost feel like I could have written that part myself because she exactly describes my frustrations in my current relationship and how I feel very lonely even though I am not alone. So many of her stories are very relatable, which in a memoir just makes me love that person all the more.

I can already tell this is one I will reread later, hopefully I'll reread it because I'm refreshing my memory before I read her follow-up in a couple of years.
