I really enjoyed this book, until the last part. The plot and the character motivations were intriguing, and I wondered how everything would work out. I liked the fresh idea of the characters taking part in an internet challenge. Then, in the last 85%-90% of the book came one implausible plot twist that rarely, if ever happens in real life. Once this plot twist happened, my enjoyment of the book lessened. It didn't completely ruin it for me, but definitely dropped it from 4 to 3 stars.

Meh. Too many ideas. Mav is super irritating and Adele a compelling lead but all the different POVs made basically everyone frustrating. The idea of the book was okay, but I've read other thrillers on islands with similar beats that were much more surprising. And the end! Is it supposed to be a cliffhanger or something? Another chapter would have been helpful there I thought. Underwhelming mashup of domestic thriller meets reality streaming show content.

the characters were mostly just annoying, the dialogue was cringe, they didn't even play hide and seek and it felt like so much random shit was added just to make it busy, and it was predictable. i knew that guy on the video game was going to be miller but that was just ridiculous and unbelievable, why would he come back? and i knew the secret bad guy was going to be chloe, and it was so unnecessary that they were going to have a fourth player but then he didn't show up there's ambiguity at the end but not in a fun or thought-provoking way. but i did want to know what happened badly enough that i read the whole book
