A Decent read...
***Spoiler Alert***
The heroine was heartbroken. She just ended a relationship and she wanted to forget everything and enjoy the night. She goes to a Mardi Grass party and had a laundry room sex with the hero. They used protection but you know what happens... Both of them were wearing a mask and they didn't exchange numbers. But in their drunken state, they go to a tattoo parlor and had a tattoo with two halves, one-half was in the heroine's body and the other half was in hero's body, by connecting both of the halves will create a heart. The tattoos were supposed to bring them together. The hero called the heroine his butterfly during that night. And after that night he searched for his butterfly but could not find her.
Fast forward four months,
The heroine is pregnant. She is given a project by the company she was working and that project was auditing the heroes company. The hero is very much in tension cause an auditor is coming and there was a huge amount of blunder caused by hero's younger brother and he had to do something about it otherwise he will lose a big contract.
The heroine (auditor) came to the office and immediately know that the CEO (hero) of this company is the father of her child because she saw the tattoo.
Now the heroine is afraid if anyone knows about her pregnancy and the CEO's connection with it, she will be criticized by her boss. Cause her boss already thought that she was not good enough for the job. So she wants to do her job perfectly and decide that after submitting the audit report she will tell the hero about the baby.
On the other hand, the hero decided that he will flirt and seduce the auditor enough to distract her not to notice the blunder.
Then the game starts. They were both attracted to each other and heroine is resisting the hero for the obvious reason- her job. But one evening when the heroine in the office gym wearing her gym cloth make it visible that she is pregnant and obviously the tattoo make it clear to the hero who is she.
Then the hero vow to make her confused him about the truth. And he managed to pursue the heroine for a private dinner date. On the date night, he asked her about why she didn't tell him about her when she recognized him and also about the baby. After that, they talked and resolve the matter for time being. They end up together at the hero's place. But still, the hero is kinda worried about the audit report and also the fact that he purposely wanted to distract the heroine but now he wanted to give this relationship a chance truly. The fact that the hero is not talking or blackmailing about marriage in HPlandia is quite surprising. The heroine also doesn't want to marry him just because she is pregnant. If somehow their relationship work and they fall in love in future then they can settle for marriage otherwise no.
After that, the heroine is able to find out the company's financial blunder and asked the hero about it. The hero wants to resolve the matter privately but the heroine told him that she will not lose her integrity and the hero agreed. Cause at the end, what is she telling is right.
Before submitting the report the heroine also talks to her coworker about the report and asked for advice. After that heroine submitted her audit report but still, her boss fired her (the heroine's co-worker told the boss about the phone talk between them) because she lost her reasoning because of some romantic involvement.
The heroine asked the hero is it really was his intention to distract her from the work to hide the blunder. The hero said it was but his feeling toward her has changed and it was no longer his intention anymore and they had a big fight. The heroine throws the hero out of her house.
For doing everything right the hero got her job back and also somehow managed to save his deal with a little bit interfering of his younger brother. The heroine realizes that he doesn't want to work in a company where the boss really doesn't value her so she interviewed for the hero's company job. In the interview session with the hero, they confused their feeling and got engaged. The End.
With lots of drama and everything, I really didn't feel the great HPlandia love here but it was ok. The plot and its twist were good. The plot wasn't something new but it was good to compare other HP's blackmailing, typical plot.
Safety Issue: The hero was man-whore sure and there was no confirmation about his celibacy during the separation time. One or two times author did mention that he went to dinner with other women(s) and he was comparing other women with the heroine every time. The heroine wasn't a virgin. She was previously in a relationship. I have to mention there were no slut-shaming and disrespecting towards the heroine by the hero. There was no talking about marriage or taking charge of anything by the hero just because she is pregnant. They both wanted best for each other and for the baby also. So, this fact will surely make a big difference in my rating.

I have joined Manali Dey, a friend on Bookstagram, for the #MillsandBoonReadathon for which we are reading 18 books, coz it's '18! This is Book 8.
I have read and loved [a:Andrea Laurence|5398672|Andrea Laurence|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1407976116p2/5398672.jpg]'s [b:The CEO's Unexpected Child|27238055|The CEO's Unexpected Child (Millionaires of Manhattan, #4)|Andrea Laurence|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1454398137l/27238055._SY75_.jpg|47285717] before this. This is my second read by her. This is Book Four of Little Secrets Series. Neither had I read the previous book's series serially nor this one's. Yeeesh!
Twenty-seven-year-old Emma Dempsey finds herself at a Mardi Gras party in Tribeca, a party of her best friend Harper's employer, Jonah Flynn. Recently broken up with her boyfriend, who termed her boring, she's bored at the party as well. When Batman starts to accost her, she has to accept the help of Mr Venetian Mask to drive away from the creep. She decides to give in to her impulse and does body shots of tequila with the stranger. Hot hot hot, hot prologue!
The book starts three months later, in Jonah Flynn's office. He runs his privately owned gaming company, FlynnSoft. He has two brothers, one of whom took off with three million dollars of company money. FlynnSoft is on the verge of a new deal, and with an auditor coming in... This is so a story of here and now.
A night of unforgettable sex, with an unknown partner, the only means of identification their matching tattoos. As soon as Emma the forensic auditor lays eyes on Jonah the gamer's tattoo, she's beyond flustered. You see, he still doesn't know who she is, coz her tattoo is, well, ahem... at a discreet place. And she's out of her mind, thinking of her pregnancy. She couldn't find her secret hero with the help of her best friend and hasn't divulged her news to even her parents, coz they expect her to be prim and proper after what happened to her older sister.
Intent on seducing Emma to keep her eyes away from his brothers' doings, Jonah finds himself getting frustrated since she has a no-nonsense attitude. And then start the office shenanigans.
I loved how the author set up Jonah's office, so modern and millennial. I wish I could work in such an office! Jonah and Emma's jibes and snipes were funny, their camaraderie adorable. Both of them hailed from wealthy families but worked on their own steam. Instead of the usual anger and recriminations that usually follows, their acceptance of each other's situation was a breath of fresh air.
Except for her parents', George and Pauline Dempsey, names; nothing was made evident as to why she was so afraid of/for them.
The ending was so cute, a perfect ending to a quintessential office romance. It was funny as well. It could have been better with an epilogue, though.
After combing through Andrea Laurence's books, I found out the following:
The deceased sister of Emma, Cynthia Dempsey, is actually alive in her own amnesiac story, [b:What Lies Beneath|13261505|What Lies Beneath (Millionaires of Manhattan #1)|Andrea Laurence|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1344391577l/13261505._SY75_.jpg|18463025], Book 1 of Millionaires of Manhattan.
Also, the situation described with Noah Flynn and Reagan Hardy, his ........ I'm wondering whether they have a book or will have a book. And what about Elijah Flynn, the middle or the youngest Flynn brother, is he anywhere in the picture?
And her friends seem to have a life of their own too...Lucy, Violet, and especially Harper.
My review of:
His Unexpected Heir (Book One)
Claiming His Pregnant Bride (Book Two)
P.S. The cover is what drew me to this book in the first place. It is so adorable.
