I haven't read the previous books in this series and it didn't affect my understanding at all. The book is sort of a second chance story but not a second chance at romance. Its a second chance for the hero to NOT make the mistakes of the past. Overall, the book is a bit predictable: famous rock star gets caught up in a tabloid nightmare story and decides to hide out in a nowhere town. What really saved this book for me was Bristol. She was a very well written character. Her sister stole her boyfriend and is now marrying him and everyone expects her to be happy and supportive about it. She experiences both frustration with her family and a desire to put it past her and make everyone happy. Jesse helps her out and no one deserves it more than her. If you are looking for a quick rockstar read this one fits the bill.

Overall, I give this book 3 stars and if you’ve read the Wicked Lover series already then I recommend reading this book. If you haven’t read any of the books yet in the series then this is a fairly good teaser to the series.

At first glance, Gia Angelotti and Jason Denning seem to have nothing in common. She's a cop, responsible for keeping the peace in the city of Dallas, TX. Jason is a billionaire, a shrewd businessman used to having whatever he wants, whenever he wants it.

The truth, though, is that Gia and Jason want the same thing. She's looking to express her submissive nature, and Jason, Dom that he is, is more than happy to help her. When they meet at Club Dominion, their passions lead them to each other. Their undeniable attraction and growing love leads them to 'I do,' but tragedy strikes and rips them apart.

I had not read any of this series, and was not sure that this book would be my cup of tea. But as more is revealed of the characters and their motivations, and we see the inner dialogue that draws them to each other despite themselves, the more I became invested in seeing Gia and Jason get to their happy place. And, yes, there's plenty of steamy sexy bits, as well!

The one thing that threw me off just a little bit was that it seemed like the back story for Gia and Jason was explained elsewhere, because there seemed to be an assumption of knowledge of their story. I would guess that it would help to read 'Theirs To Cherish,' which is the story of Callie, Sean, and Mitchell, also members of Club Dominion. That aside, I enjoyed 'Forever Wicked,' and look forward to reading more by Shayla Black.

Been sitting my virtual basket for ages, so sorry. A quick wet gushy read, great for a Monday morning blues.

Short novella as part of the 1001 Dark Nights series, this entry is written by Ms. Black and stars billionaire Jason Denning - when the story begins he is trying to track down his wife, who he hasn’t seen in almost a year. They literally had one night of passion and then she just left.

The Good
Hot sex? Check.
Sexy billionaire hero who will do anything for his woman? Check.

The Not So Good
I tried to sympathize with Gia. I really did. But she dropped the man she supposedly loves for a year because she didn’t think he would want to deal with her family troubles? Really? At every turn, she completely dismissed his feelings because of her incredibly low self-esteem just had me threatening to throw my kindle. I just didn’t quite believe that she really loved Jason, probably because I didn’t think she loved herself at all.

The Bottom Line
Hot sex doesn’t overcome an incredibly frustrating heroine, so I can’t quite recommend this.
