An updated version of the Parent Trap with a Muslim cast!
♊️
Ashar is a busy teen, what with his constant ice hockey practices and studying for an entrance exam into an elite academy that has the best hockey high school team in the area. Shaheer isn’t that busy because he and his father are constantly moving around the country for his ER doctor job so Shaheer doesn’t have time form attachments to anything so he keeps his head down and AirPods on. When Shaheer moves (again) to a new school in Virginia he has no clue he has a brother that he’s never met that goes there until the two literally run into one another in the hallway. With the help of their cousin they soon realize they don’t just look alike, they’re twins separated at birth. Now each wants to meet the other’s parent so they agree to switch places—that never goes wrong, right?
♊️
What a charming MG story that I couldn’t put down. I’m a sucker for any Parent Trap trope and this one was just too adorable. I’ll be grabbing this for my middle school library immediately!

CW: estranged parents, abandonment, absent parent

I'm so excited to share my second MG contemporary with you, friends! Here are just a few things you can expect to find in this book:

- Parent Trap-inspired retelling
- Desi Muslim twin boys! (Dual POV)
- Hate-to-Bromance (if that's what you wanna call it lol)
- Family drama/cousin friend
- Brother story
- A loving grandfather
- HGTV/reno love!
- Ice hockey!

Is it different from BARAKAH BEATS? Yes. Does it still have a whole lot of heart? Also yes :) I can't wait to introduce the world to Ashar and Shaheer in the fall. BHAI FOR NOW is out on October 4th, 2022!

Bhai for Now is a fun, spirited middle grade book about twins, parental separation, and building a strong brother-brother relationship. This Parent Trap inspired middle grade is perfect for tweens looking for books with Muslim protagonists and books starring tween boys.

This is one of the best books I've read this year! I'm noticing that the books I love the most tend to be MG contemporary and usually with Muslim characters, interesting. this was kind of a Parent Trap retelling but BETTER and it delved into the topic of being separated and 'parent abandonment'. I just loved all of it I was grinning and tearing up in multiple parts, it was insane because I was listening to it in public lol.
